Dear
Lecturer,
Press
Release - World Scientific Series in Global Health
Economics
To
meet the ever-increasing complexity of interdisciplinary research in
the global healthcare provision market, World Scientific will launch
a book series on Global Healthcare Economics.
Under
the leadership of its managing editor, Dr. Richard Scheffler from
the University of California, Berkeley, the series will publish
high-quality academic works that address subjects of international
economic policies in healthcare and the economics of global markets,
drug-society interactions and global issues of pharmaco-economics.
The
first title of the series, Social Capital and Health,
which is also edited by Scheffler, seeks to showcase the growth in
the ambit of social capital and health and expose readers to a
variety of approaches to improving health through community as well
as individual social capital investments. The papers presented
within discuss policy implications based on recent research findings
from the United States, Europe and Asia, and will explore the
mechanisms through which social capital affects health.
Social Capital and Health is
scheduled to be published in the Fall of 2011. |

Managing Customer Value
One Stage at a Time by Dilip Soman (University of
Toronto, Canada) & Sara N-Marandi (University of Toronto,
Canada)
"A
great blend of the science and art behind managing customer
value." --
Dipak C Jain, Dean, Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern
University
"Soman
offers marketers a great gift - elegantly simple new ways to
approach the common yet deceptively complex choices they must make
every day. Using crystal clear examples from real business
situations he demonstrates that it is possible to create value for
the customer and from the customer at the same time, to the delight
of each side." --
Delaine Hampton, Director of Consumer and Market Knowledge of
Procter & Gamble
Global Movements In The Asia
Pacific
edited by Pookong Kee & Hidetaka Yoshimatsu (Ritsumeikan
Asia Pacific University, Japan)
The
Asia-Pacific region is rapidly becoming the main area of growth in
the global economy in the 21st century. Recent developments in the
movement of people, goods, services, and information are closely
linked to the latest round of globalization, of which the effects on
this region are particularly dramatic.
The
papers in this volume are by leading scholars, business leaders and
government officials from the region. They include Yuan-Tseh Lee,
Nobel Prize Winner in Chemistry, who reflects on the global flow of
knowledge and talent; and Alfonso Yuchengco, one of the region's
most respected business leaders and diplomats, who discusses
transnational businesses, diplomacy, and China's re-emergence as a
world power. Other papers present new insights into the processes
and policies governing flows of migrants, trade, investment,
transport, information technology, and ideas. |

China Rising: Will The West Be Able To
Cope?
The Real Long-Term Challenge of the Rise of China - and Asia in
General by Jan Willem Blankert
"Since
China will continue to grow - albeit at a slower pace - the answer
depends not only on Beijing's conduct, but on whether the US and
Europe can adapt to a new world order, argues Jan Willem Blankert in
a refreshingly counter-intuitive book China Rising: Will the West be
Able to Cope?" --
